Light and Sweet nature of Nigeria’s petroleum

Because there is not a significant amount of sulfur in the oil produced in Nigeria, the petroleum is mostly referred to as “light” and “sweet.” Within OPEC, Nigeria is the country that produces the most crude sugar.

The chemical make-up of this sweet oil is comparable to that of the petroleum that is taken from the North Sea. The name given to this kind of crude oil is “Bonny light.” Other Nigerian crudes include those with the names Qua Ibo, Escravos mix, Brass River, Forcados, and Pennington Anfan. These crudes all get their names from the export terminals where they are processed.
