Any illness that is typically or frequently spread from person to person by direct sexual contact, such as syphilis, gonorrhea, AIDS, or a genital type of herpes simplex, is referred to as a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Additionally, HPV may be spread from a mother to her unborn child or, less frequently, from one person to another through non-sexual contact like as kissing, tainted blood transfusions, or the use of unclean hypodermic syringes ( Encyclopedia Britannica, 2008). Similar to this, Myless (2001) asserted that sexually transmitted illnesses are those that can be spread sexually and are brought on by a range of pathogens. However, Achalu (1993) defined sexually transmitted illnesses as a collection of infectious disorders in which the primary method of transmission is through sexual contact.
