ABSTRACT
This project was centered on computerized child care information system. The current process of keeping of child care information records is being operated manually and due to this procedure numerous problem are been encountered. A design was taken to computerized the manual process in order to check this problem. The problems were identified after series of interviews and examination of documents after which analysis was made and a computerized procedure recommended. This project will also suggest how to successfully implement the computerized procedure and to overcome the obstacle that would hinder the successful implementation of the system. The new system was designed using Microsoft visual basic 6.0 programming language. This language was chosen because of its easy syntax and features for developing windows based applications.

ABSTRACT

Unemployment in the present day Nigeria resulted from different misgivings and lack of direct approach to by those concerned to tackle this problem. There are very few jobs compared to the large number of citizens up to the age of being in the labor force. In recent years, subsequent governments and corporate bodies have one way or the other tried to device a means of reducing the instances of unemployment, some being successful to some extent, and other cases having efforts and huge finances being wasted due to lack of proper management, supervision and low productive system of operation.
This research project is dedicated to providing a new system that would solve the problem of linking a large number of unemployed individuals to firms, companies, institutions or government agencies that are in need of employing people for one reason or the other. This project has an its case study. The National Directorate of Employment (Owerri Secretariat). It is an agency formed by the Federal Government with the sole purpose of employing as many unemployed individuals into the labor force.
This research work, right from its inception is dedicated to greatly solving the problem of errors prone to the manual method of collecting, managing and storing of data as well as distributing processed information. It introduces an electronic means known as Automation, a process that entails the use of the computer and its accessories to manage data and information at a more efficient and effective rate. This would be achieved by introducing an Automated Employment Directory for Labor Assignment System, hence the project topic: “An Automated Employment Directory and Labor Assignment System”.

ABSTRACT

In our today activities, most people have some kind of “database” collections of CDs, students’ academic entries, a phonebook of phone numbers and name entries, vehicles parts, records to be processed by a program. With a bit more precision, the term database means a logically coherent collection of related data with inherent meaning, built for a certain application and representing a “mini-word”. A database management system (DBMS) is the software that allows database to be defined, constructed, and manipulated. Developing HTTP and RDBMS information service for federal polytechnic Nekede, owerri was the core of this project work. The integration which implemented, project the strength of the institution, provided most level of functionality and reduced the hitherto duplication of data so often the case with student particulars and the resultant stressful situation which the academic staff face in record manipulation.

In considering the design of a web driven relational database management system; it is obvious that RDBMS succeed to a very large extent which depends on the level of data structure while structure itself depends on the level of reliability, which can be achieved through the kind of tables and web interface to be rendered, and the requirements needed. It is my convictions that a closer look at this project work give insight and vital information to any interested person who wish to know the requirement for developing a HTTP and a relational database management system server to effectively implement an academic information system. The design has demonstrated its HTML web pages integration via ASP.NET programming by demystifying and defining what it takes to implement an Internet information service, HTTP server, a MsSQL relational database management system and a ASP.NET web pages.

ABSTRACT

The principal objective of this project is to help Security Information Systems (SIS) especially NIGERIAN POLICE which is my case study in the area they encounter problems in securing security dataprocessing and efficient information system. This will be the solution given to handle this problem by transforming the existing manual information system into an automated form and overcome the existing problems of insecurity and delay in data processing. I decided to use an automated database system to enhance
information storage and keep track of security information. Again, doing this will ensure that there is an effective security information system computerization. To achieve this, Visual Basic 6.0 is used for its implementation.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION

National security is the requirement to maintain the survival of the state through the use of economic, security operatives especially police, political power and the exercise of diplomacy. The concept developed mostly in the United States of America after World War II focusing on the police and military might. Now, it encompasses a broad range of facets, all of which impinge on the police and military for economic security of the nation, lives property and values protected by national society. Accordingly, in order to possess national security, a nation needs to possess economic security, energy security, environmental security, etc. Security threats involve not only conventional foes such as other national states but also nonstate actors such as violent non-state actors, narcotic cartels, multinational corporations and non-governmental organizations; some authorities include natural disasters and events causing severe environmental change in this category.
The origin of the modern concept of “national security” as a philosophy of maintaining a stable nation state can be traced to the peace of Westphalia, wherein the concept of a sovereign state, ruled by a sovereign, became the basis of a new international order of nation states.
As an academic concept, national security can be seen as a recent phenomenon which was first introduced in the United States after World War II, and has to some degree replaced other concepts that describe the struggle of states to overcome various external and internal threats. The earliest mention of the term national security, however, was made in Yale University in 1790 wherein was made to its relation with domestic industries.
The concept of the national security became an official guiding principle of foreign policy in the United States when the National security Act of 1947 was signed on July 26, 1947 by the U.S. President Harry S. Truman. Together with its 1949 amendment, this act create American national security d important facets for American national security as the precursor to the department of defense, subordinated the security operatives branches to the new cabinet level position of the secretary of defense, established the National Security council and the Central Intelligence Agency. The Act did not define national security which was conceivably advantageous as it’s ambiguity made it a powerful phrase to invoke whenever issues threatened by other interests of the state, such as domestic concerns, came up for discussion and decision making.
The realization that national security encompasses more than just security was present though understated, from the beginning itself.
The US National Security Act of 1947 was set up “to advise the president on the integration of domestic security and foreign policies related to national security”.
Gen Maxwell Taylor’s essay of 1947 titled “The Legitimate claims of
National Security” has this to say;
The national valuables in this broad sense include current assets and national interests, as well as the sources of strength upon which our future as a nation depends. Some valuables are tangible and earthly; others are spiritual or intellectual. They range widely from political assets such as the Bill of Rights, National Security and political institutions and international relations to many economic assets which radiate worldwide from a highly productive domestic economy supported by rich natural resources. It is the urgent need to protect valuables such as these which legitimizes and makes essential the role of national security.

ABSTRACT

The problem which always emanate from inadequate personnel information maintenance and management has been a torn in the flesh of the entire Nigerian society, Enugu state precisely.  In other to proffer solution to the existing problems, the project work researched into the modus operandi of personnel database management system of Enugu state.

In the process of analysis of the existing system were detected, carefully analyzed and possible solution to the problems were proffered in the newly designed system.

The new system designed in this project work is computerized and it works automatically; it addresses all the lapses that cause hindrance to the existing system.  It is timely accurate and very comprehensive in report generation.

ABSTRACT

 

Libraries have been an important part of educational and information sector of any school.  The success of any library largely depends on proper management.

Several libraries have suffered failure as a result of inadequate management and incapacitations in handling sensitive information as regards members of the library.

This research therefore, aimed at developing a digital library system, which will help direct and position library to meets its ever increasing demands.

In the course of the development of this new system, the current system was analytically and critically studied or assessed and thus the identified strengths and weaknesses were highlighted and a new system was designed for the weakness.

The present system was analyzed using a standard procedure recognized worldwide for such purpose and this is called Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM).  The visual basic 6.0 programming language was used to code the program modules developed for the system using some computer aided design tools.

ABSTRACT

Regrettably, it is worthy to note that several years after independence, that the statutory allocation is in the doldrums, people expectation on the government continues to rise. Every responsible government is always anxious to provide at least the very basic amenities for the people in addition to the payments of salaries and allowance of its employees. This is a difficult task to meet up today because of the problems inherent in a manual personnel income tax auditing that aids revenue generation in the states.

 

The manual process can only produce report after a long period of time that may not be less than two weeks. Also it could lead to a situation where fatigue could discourage a thorough job by the auditors.

 

It was based on the above mentioned points and others not mentioned here, that an analysis and feasibility study was taken of the old system (manual) with its attendant problems and limitations revealed to determine the need for a new system which can overcome the entire setback associated with the manual process. The use of computer in personnel income tax auditing can reduce human errors and hence is a necessity for enhanced revenue. The programming language used to develop this software is visual basic 6.0. it is an event driven programming language which is well suited for windows application.

This project is to address the problems encountered by the staff of custom and their customers. In view of this problems, the manual process involved in the handling and management of goods in custom office were critically studied and the problems noted. This project went further to treat the different techniques used in implementing the newly designed software.
This work is conducted towards the computerization of the existing system of processing data in order to identify some various problems that is being encountered in mechanical aspect of it and the manual method of data processing in the billing of imported and exported customer goods and thereby recommending first class solution to the problem of information system in the organization.
This theory also compares the existing system with the new system which is exact and a faster way of processing data and the problem that is faced by customers when they are clearing their goods from the wharf. This theory includes with the implementation, programming, test run, change over the process of the new system. The software is designed using visual basic 6.0 language. ABSTRACT

The manual approach used in the regulation of the school activities by the management board is very tedious and stressful.  This research work investigated into the complications encountered due to the debilitation of man-power admitted into the school management with respect to how indepth it affects other operational system that conduct in school with a view of designing a computerized system to handle the work with less difficulty for an effective decision-making.

In the course of the study, an existing system was digested and its deficiencies were detected and emphatically analysed, after which solutions to the problems were proffered in the new designed computerized system that is reliable and more interactive.  The new system terminates all the problems experienced with the existing system.  The case study is Post-Primary School Management Board (PPSMB) Enugu.
