EFFECT OF QUALIFICATION OF INTEGRATED SCIENCE TEACHER ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS

 

ABSTRACT

The goal of this study is to ascertain the influence of an integrated science teacher’s qualifications on the academic performance of junior secondary schools in Ayedaade Local Government Area, Osun state. Four research hypotheses were developed and assessed on this basis. To elicit responses, one hundred (100) questionnaires were distributed randomly to one hundred (100) students from five (5) different schools. A questionnaire was used in the study, and the data collected from respondents were analyzed using Chi-Square statistics. The findings indicate that there is a significant relationship between teachers’ qualifications/experience and students’ performance in integrated science; that there is a significant relationship between laboratory facilities and effective teaching and learning of integrated science; that there is a significant relationship between teachers’ method of teaching integrated science and students’ performance; and that there is a significant relationship between laboratory facili and effective teaching and learning of integrated science. Additionally, the table illustrates that all of the outcomes are correlated. In light of these findings, recommendations were made.
